My brother snapped this picture as I stepped off the bus at the Welcome Home Ceremony
As soon as we got off the plane in LAX we boarded these buses for the ride to our families
As we prepared to go our seperate ways we all took pictures together to cement our memories.
An Iraqi POB soldier sits on top of the election material being returned to ballot collection center
As we wait to respond to election problems (which thankfully, never occurred) the sun settles into the Winter sky
Small crowds trickle into the election site (which is 2 kilometers away in this picture)
On the way to our polling site we passed by groups outside other polling centers... all waiting to vote.
Kids move to the sides of the highways (which they were using as soccer fields) as we pass by on the way to the Election site
Their uniforms might not match, but these guys were some of the best Iraqis we have worked with. They would be welcome on our flank anyday
In an odd twist of irony our sniper (SGT G) and his fearsome weapon (the Barett .50 cal) were housed in a pink room
One of the local kids asked if he could take a picture with my soft cap - since he asked in perfect english I let him wear the railroad tracks.
Some of the younger kids were too shy to take candy, but when I bent down to hand it to them they warmed up.
